Pepper leads Shikellamy over Warrior Run

— TURBOTVILLE — When it comes to a football team, Shikellamy head coach Todd Tilford has a bunch of mudders.

With the Braves’ line controlling both lines of scrimmage, Shikellamy blanked Warrior Run 50-0 Friday night in a steady rain at Defenders Stadium.

The win moves the Braves to 2-4 as the Defenders drop to 0-6.

“Our line did a good job opening holes tonight,” said Tilford. “They got the job done.”

Shikellamy rushed 48 times for 325 yards. Thirteen different Braves rushed the ball and five different ones ran the ball.

Leading the way early and often for the Braves was Dwayne Pepper, who rushed for 89 yards and a score on just seven carries.

“When Dwayne gets going he is pretty tough,” said Tilford. “As we get Dwayne going, it sets up the rest of our offense.”

The Shikellamy defense held Warrior Run to 123 yards on offense and forced two turnovers. The Braves’ defense also accounted for a safety in the first quarter.
