A few Christmases back, while visiting my in-laws, I thought I had received all the gifts I was going to receive. Until my brother-in-law, in true “A Christmas Story” form, asked me: “What is that behind the cabinet in the corner?” I stepped across the mounds of shredded wrapping paper and ribbons and, in long, sleek, gift wrap, there it was. A Red Ryder BB gun. Just like Ralphie got. And just like the one my nephew received that Christmas too. In the years since, my nephew and I have practiced shooting BBs at air balloons, water balloons, plastic soda bottles, bells, wind chimes and discarded light bulbs! And we haven't shot our eyes out!
