DANVILLE — Lewisburg’s Seven Mountains Audubon group has donated a new book to the Thomas Beaver Free Library as thanks for helping them with their end of year fundraising.
The book, “The Second Atlas of Breeding Birds in Pennsylvania,” was delivered to the library by Mary Henrie, treasurer for Seven Mountains, on March 21.
In addition to Danville’s library, copies of the book were donated to libraries in Selinsgrove and Lewisburg. Those three locations, said Henrie, contributed the most donations to Seven Mountains’ fundraiser.
The original version of the book was published in 1992. The new edition compares bird sightings and breeding data in Pennsylvania from 1983 to 1992 and 2004 to 2009. The data of 100 different bird species is graphed to show declines or changes due to alterations in habitat.
A major contributor to the book was Allen Schweinsberg, a prior president of Seven Mountains.
“We’d never be able to afford this book, it’s wonderful,” said Bonnie White, library director.
