— RIVERSIDE - Borough plans to bring natural gas to residents are currently on the backburner.
While Riverside residents have previously shown strong support for natural gas, UGI Utilities stated at a recent meeting that costs would be too prohibitive to supply it in the borough.
“At present they wouldn’t be doing anything,” said Peter Fleming, president of Riverside’s borough council.
UGI may reevaluate their stance if proposed natural gas legislation goes through later this year. The legislation, supported by Sen. Gene Yaw of Pennsylvania’s 23rd district, would help cut down the cost of gas line installation.
