DANVILLE — DANVILLE — A man on his way to jury duty was injured when struck by a car Monday on Mill Street.

Ronald Green, 64, of Danville, told Danville police and ambulance personnel he was headed to the Montour County Courthouse to report for jury duty shortly before 9 a.m. Prospective jurors were called for a civil trial scheduled to start next week.

A Geisinger Medical Center spokeswoman did not have information on his condition at 3 p.m. Monday.

The driver of a gray Ford Taurus said the pedestrian walked out in front of him. It is possible shading from nearby homes contributed to the accident, said Gary Mordan, 44, of Danville, who was driving the car. Mordan said he wasn’t speeding.

Mordan was turning left off East Front Street and north onto Mill Street at the time, Danville Patrolman Brad Harvey said.

The accident occurred about a block from the courthouse, near River Front Park.

A Danville ambulance took Green to the hospital.

Assisting at the scene were county deputy sheriffs and other drivers who had seen the accident.

Harvey said he was continuing to investigate the accident.
