TOWN TALK: Riverside reduces meeting frequency

RIVERSIDE — Borough council voted to reduce meeting frequency in the summer due to less borough action needing to be taken.

Council members voted to hold only one meeting in July, on July 7, and one in August, on Aug. 4.

Southside Fire Report for May

Riverside’s Southside Fire Company responded to two calls in May.

The first was a transformer fire at 442 Elysburg Road, Rush Township. Seven firefighters responded, spending 3.5 man hours.

The second call was a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Logan Street and Sunbury Road on May 29. Four firefighters responded, contributing one man hour of time.

Mahoning Township approves cleaners contract

Members of the Mahoning Township supervisor board voted to renew their year-long agreement to clean the township building.

The agreement, approved during the township’s June 16 meeting, cost $90 per cleaning, a one percent increase over last year.
