Danville Band "Sleuth" All About Family

DANVILLE — Local band Sleuth keeps their act all in the family.

The Danville-based band is composed of husband and wife Tim and Caitlin Latshaw, who both play guitar, bass and vocals, Caitlin’s father Dave Coller, on guitar and vocals, and drummer Drew Kanaskie, the husband of Tim’s niece.

“We all love playing together,” said Tim. “Every time we have a family get-together, it ends up turning into a practice session.”

“Dave and I played together in 2008 as a duo,” said Tim. “We started to get more work and decided we would expand things a bit.”

The group draws a lot of inspiration from classic rock and folk rock. They also have several original songs penned by Coller. He has been writing music his whole life, said Tim, and the band finally gives him a creative outlet for it. “He always played for family and friends, but it never went further than that,” he said. “His main focus is about family and friends…everybody can relate to that.”

Coller and Caitlyn used to play together just as a hobby, while Tim played professionally in a band for 16 years. Kanaskie used to be the manager for the retail store K&S Music in Paxinos and also plays with other bands on a regular basis.

“My family was always a musical family growing up,” said Tim. “It’s not anything new to any of us.”

In the area, Sleuth has performed at Knoebels, Shamokin’s Wayside Inn and for the Montour Area Recreation Commission’s summer concert series. Caitlin and Tim have also performed as a duo for Danville’s Pumpkin Palooza. Sleuth’s next act is at Danville’s Old Forge Brewing Company the night of March 28. They last performed there a month ago, on Feb. 28.
