DANVILLE — A Danville woman has been charged with assault for allegedly trying to cut a man’s throat with a utility knife.

Danville police charged Sharon Marie Arndt, 46, of Suite 3 of 218 Mill St., with aggravated assault and simple assault of Jeff Shearer on June 3.

Montour County’s 911 Center received a call from a man saying his girlfriend tried to cut his throat. The man didn’t want to give his name but provided Arndt’s address.

Police said they saw a cut on Shearer’s neck when they arrived.

Shearer told police he fell asleep on the bed and woke up to Arndt trying to cut his neck.

Arndt told police several times she didn’t know what had happened because she was sleeping. She had a small amount of blood on her right hand and seemed surprised when police pointed it out to her.

Police took her into custody and to Geisinger Medical Center to be evaluated. Emergency room staff told police she would be admitted to be evaluated.
