— RIVERSIDE – Borough council members wanted to remind residents of a public meeting with PennDOT officials held Tuesday night.
The meeting, which will take place at 6:30 p.m. at Riverside’s Saint Peter’s Church, will give the public the chance to ask any questions regarding the partial closure of the Danville-Riverside bridge from Friday, June 20, to Monday, June 23.
A rumor had been circulating that the meeting had been canceled, said borough secretary Deb Bausch, but that is not the case.
Traffic from Riverside to Danville will be permitted to cross the bridge, but traffic traveling to Riverside will be rerouted through either Catawissa or Sunbury. Emergency vehicles will be allowed to cross the bridge, no matter the direction they are going.
Traffic leaving Riverside will be routed along North D&H Avenue. In addition, no commercial trucks will be allowed along the bridge.
PennDot is closing the bridge so that renovations can be made to the train tracks that run across Route 54.
