DANVILLE — MAHONING TWP. — Children at Busy Little Beavers Child Care cut out snowflakes from paper and decorated them with glitter.

Others glued together and dressed up paper snowmen.

The creations were to be sent Monday to students at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., where a mass shooting occurred in December.

Two- and three-year-olds from the Danville area center made 18 female snowmen and eight male snowmen to represent the victims, said teacher Vikki Sponenberg.

She got the idea for the project from another teacher who saw it on the Internet.

They will send the snowflakes and snowmen to the parent, teacher and student association in Hamden, Conn.

Nationwide, students are showing their support for the Connecticut students through the project.

The Danville area students – about 65 total from ages 1 through 13 – worked on the project for about two weeks.
