DANVILLE — WASHINGTONVILLE – No injury was reported in what is believed to be a driving while intoxicated crash but power was interrupted when a vehicle struck a utility pole Sunday night, resulting in Route 54 being closed in the Washingtonville area.
The road, less than one mile north of Washingtonville, remained closed at 7:30 this morning, according to a dispatcher for Montour County’s 911 Center.
Power lines were reported down across the road.
Service interruptions were reported in the Exchange area.
The 11:32 p.m. accident was called in as occurring between Washingtonville and railroad tracks in Derry Township.
State police at Milton said Keith Stackhouse, 56, of Turbotville, was traveling north on Route 54 when his 1999 Jeep Cherokee went off the right side of the road and struck a utility pole.
He was transported to Geisinger Medical Center to have blood drawn. Police said the investigation continues pending blood alcohol level results.
Called to the scene were fire companies from Washingtonville and Valley Township, the Danville Ambulance Service and state police at Milton.
Traffic was being detoured onto Strawberry Ridge Road, PPL Road and Arrowhead Road.
According to PennDOT, emergency responded anticipated the road being reopened late this morning.
