DANVILLE — Mahoning Township's East End Fire Department reported 13 calls in the month of March, logging 132 hours with an average of eight firefighters per call, according to Chief Todd Gibson.
There were five Rapid Intervention Team responses, three motor vehicle accidents, two structure fires, and three miscellaneous other events. There were also three in house training sessions logging 68 hours with an average of 13 members per training event. Finally, there were 213 hours of certified training that occurred ranging from Haz Mat Operations, Advanced RIT, and Pump Operations.
East End Fire Department is also sponsoring and hosting the “Essential Class Modules” this year, which will see firefighters from many local communities participating. It is a basic, but comprehensive, curriculum all firefighters need in order to start their volunteer career, said Gibson.
