DANVILLE – A Mifflinburg mother charged with attempted homicide of her 6-week-old son had her drug-related Montour County Court case postponed.
The case of Jasmine Bearden, 20, was continued Tuesday at the request of her attorney Raymond Kessler. Bearden did not appear in court.
She is charged with nine offenses in Montour County related to her possessing marijuana in Geisinger Medical Center and to her possibly selling some of the drugs to friends while her son was being treated Oct. 11.
Mahoning Township police charged Bearden with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, child endangerment, possession of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance and five counts of possession of drug paraphernalia.
She was charged in January for nearly beating her son to death Oct. 9. She faces criminal attempted homicide, aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of a child. Her case was held for Union County Court last week.
A Geisinger security officer found what appeared to be marijuana and drug paraphernalia in Bearden’s backpack. Police said the paraphernalia included a grinder, a pipe and a syringe.
