Riverside reminds residents to call in planned controlled burns

— RIVERSIDE – Southside Fire Company member and borough council member Barb Kriner reminds residents that controlled burns should be reported to the local 911 center before they are conducted on properties.

When people drive by and see a controlled burn, they can mistake it for an actual fire and report it to emergency responders. Property owners who report the controlled burn in advance can save emergency workers time by remembering to call in advance, she said.

“It’s a lot of equipment to put on the road when someone could just make a quick phone call.”
