DANVILLE — DANVILLE – School board officials approved payments of $244,986.23 to purchase new furnishings and contract flooring work for the Danville Middle School. Of that amount, $209,870.10 will be reimbursed by the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency and Federal Emergency Management Agency. The district will pay $35,116.13 for a wooden stage floor to be constructed at the middle school.
The middle school, under repair since incurring flood damage during September 2011’s Tropical Storm Lee, remains on schedule to open for the start of the 2013-2014 school year. The district’s approximately 550 middle school students have been taught in extra classrooms at the Danville Primary School and in rooms at the formerly vacant Danville Elementary School.
