DANVILLE — Police officers will now be regularly watching township stop signs due to an increase in the number of people ignoring them.
While there have been no traffic accidents so far, it is a situation that is not improving. “People aren’t stopping,” said Christine DeLong, chair of Mahoning Township’s supervisors’ board, at her group’s meeting on March 18. “It’s just getting worse, it’s not getting better.”
Township police will watch as many stop signs as they are able to, said DeLong.
The supervisors’ board also wanted to remind citizens that if they are performing construction, they need a permit from the Mahoning Township Police Department to place dumpsters in township streets. The permit is not needed if the dumpster is on a person’s property off the street.
