DANVILLE — The Danville Area High School has been nominated by Pennsylvania to join the esteemed community of National Blue Ribbon Schools. Thirteen outstanding schools have been nominated from Pennsylvania for the award.
Since 1982, the U.S. Department of Education’s National Blue Ribbon School Program has honored America’s most successful public and non-public elementary, middle, and high schools. The National Blue Ribbon Schools program recognizes schools whose students achieve at very high levels or schools making significant progress in closing achievement gaps among different groups of students.
National Blue Ribbon Schools are honored each year at a recognition ceremony in Washington, D.C. A small group of National Blue Ribbon Schools are visited each year to identify educational practices that have been especially successful.
Presently, DASD administrators and teachers are working together on the 2014 National Blue Ribbon Schools Program Application. The completed application is due by March 21. The announcement of the 2014 National Blue Ribbon Schools will take place in September.
