DANVILLE — The borough council’s new junior member is expected to attend her first meeting Sept. 10.
Council approved Sarah Finn, a Danville Area High School junior from Danville, as junior council member during their last meeting.
Finn submitted a letter indicating her interest in serving.
“I have long had an interest in federal, state and local government and have assisted the Danville Area League of Voters in candidates’ nights, contributed my time to political campaigns and have successfully completed course study in advanced placement U.S. government and politics. I believe that I can learn a great deal from this experience and also will be able to contribute intelligently to any dialogue,” she wrote.
A student in advanced placement and honors courses, Finn is a member of the National Honor Society, Danville Area Forensics Team and Spanish Club. She plays varsity lacrosse and field hockey and is a member of the Drama Club and treasurer of P.L.A.N.E.T. — the high school recycling club.
Her work experience includes tutoring a college student in algebra, data entry for her family’s business and child care.
She is an active junior member of the Washington Fire and Hose Company.
