Danville Arts Council fundraiser nets nearly $2,000

DANVILLE — Last week’s inaugural fundraiser for the Danville Arts Council was a “tremendous success,” according to council chairman Scott Richardson.

“In terms of a fundraiser, we raised quite a bit of money,” he said. The event took place on Monday, April 7, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Old Forge Brewing Company and featured a silent and live auction of donated artwork and gift certificates to local businesses.

A total of 34 pieces of art were auctioned, including pieces from regional artists such as Chris Fritzges and Todd Jeffreys.

The event raked in $3,200, with a total profit of $1,742.45. The money will go toward the arts council expenses, including summer educational courses for local children, Richardson said.

“This will almost assuredly become an annual event for the arts council,” Richardson added. “I have no doubt that it will just grow larger and larger.”

One of the biggest successes for Richardson was the support from the community. Almost all of the approximately 100 tickets were sold, with each ticket costing $20 each.

“I’m very happy to say there were a lot of new faces there,” Richardson said.

“I’m already looking forward to next year,” he added.
