FALL FESTIVAL/Berwick

A Fall Festival held from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at Susquehanna Riverlands. Features hayrides, face and pumpkin painting, and other children’s activities. Kids and adults can learn about butterflies with Folk’s Butterfly Farm and see “Creatures of the Night” presented by Pocono Wildlife Rehabilitation and Education Center. MODEL RAILROAD PROGRAM/Buckhorn

Wheelchair Engineers set up across from Pearle Vision at Columbia Mall. Handicapped or disabled children and adults are encouraged to join in helping to build a train from noon-4 p.m.

BIKE RUN/Catawissa

A bike run for local veterans center begins at the Catawissa American Legion. Registration from 11 a.m.-noon. Bikes, cars, and trucks welcome. Cost is $15 driver, $10 passenger. Rain date is Oct. 6. All proceeds benefit the Homeless Veterans Center in Orangeville. Stops are the Mildred Legion, Sonestown Legion, Millville Legion, and then return to Catawissa Legion. ROAST BEEF DINNER/Danville

A family-style roast beef dinner will be served from 3-6:30 p.m. in Straub’s (St. Paul’s) Lutheran Church, 60 Frosty Valley Road. Take-outs are available by calling (570) 452-3837. There will be homemade ice cream sold by the quart and a baked goods table.

Jubilee Kitchen open at Mahoning Presbyterian Church, 106 E. Mahoning St. Doors open at 9 a.m. and lunch served from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

TRAINS/Danville

The free Saturday Trains program at Christ Memorial Episcopal Church, corner of Pine and East Market streets, is open from 10 a.m.-noon with the Penn State-Geisinger diesel engine and its “talking train,” the Amtrak “Pennsylvanian,” among the dozens of trains children and adults can play with. More than 1,000 icicle lights decorate the display.

COVERED BRIDGE FESTIVAL/Elysburg

The 32nd annual covered bridge and arts festival continues from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. at Knoebels Amusement Resort. Event features more than 350 crafters and 35 food vendors. The Covered Bridge Cloggers Dance Group will perform from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. The CMVB Fun Auction starts at noon.

5K ROAD RACE/Elysburg

Knoebel Lumber will host its 20th annual 5K road race at 9:30 a.m., in conjunction with the Covered Bridge Festival. Course is a moderately hilly 3.1 mile run on asphalt and gravel. Water is provided at mile posts with refreshments at the finish line. Advance entry fee is $12 and day-of-race entry fee is $15. Benefits the Ralpho Township Public Library. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. at pavilion L at Knoebels Amusement Resort. T-shirts free to the first 200 registrants. Door prizes, medals, and an engraved crystal plaque to top three overall.
