COVERED BRIDGE FESTIVAL/Elysburg
The 32nd annual covered bridge and arts festival concludes 10 a.m.-5 p.m. at Knoebels Amusement Resort. Event features more than 350 crafters and 35 food vendors. An antique and classic car display takes place all day. Stained Grass Window takes the stage from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. followed by The Legends Oldies Band from 2:30-4 p.m. At. 3:45 p.m., the CMVB will draw the winner for their annual quilt raffle.
The Warrior Run Fort Freeland Heritage Society hosts its 32nd annual Heritage Days behind Warrior Run High School. Stroll among hundreds of period costumed crafters, tradesmen and demonstrators as they explain skills used in central Pennsylvania’s daily life from 1770-1850. Enjoy wagon rides, music, crafts, and foods prepared on antique cook stoves as well as open hearths. See how early home builders used hand hewn logs and how they shear sheep for their wool. The Battle of Fort Freeland is re-enacted each day at 1 p.m. Tour the historic 1835 Warrior Run Church and the 1829 Hower-Slote House. Walk among Civil War, Revolutionary War and Native American encampments. Hop on a horse drawn wagon ride from the Revolutionary Fort Freeland site to the Civil War era Warrior Run Church. Homemade soups, barbecue, pies, funnel cakes and more available for purchase. An auction to benefit the educational apprentice program will be held at 3 p.m. Visitors can also participate in the Warrior Run Historic Mural with Jon Laidacker on the Fort Freeland grounds each day. A book signing by local author, Adam David Brown, on his book “Always Come Back” a collection of short stories, begins at 6 p.m. at the Thomas Beaver Free Library, 205 Ferry St. Hosted by the Mill Street Writers.
