RIVERSIDE — Out of the four borough council members with expiring terms this year, only one will seek reelection.
Council member Mike Maize, who was named in November 2011 to fulfill a term left vacant by retiring member Barry Faust, plans to get the required signatures to run and get into the race and keep doing his part for his town. “This has been a great community to me for the last 20 years,” he said.
Meanwhile, council member Bob Betts said he is “99 percent sure” he won’t be running for reelection. “I’ve been there 26 years, almost as long as (Mayor Dale) Erb and (council president) Pete (Fleming).”
Both Erb and Fleming have said they will also not seek another term.
Council member John LaMotte will not seek reelection to his seat so that he can instead run for mayor of Riverside.
The Riverside borough council is comprised of a total of seven members.
