RIVERSIDE — Three property owners have failed to make borough-ordered repairs and are now in danger of liens.
All of the properties received notices from code officer Jackie Hart on Jan. 6. “She’s notified the owners of these properties, which are in disrepair,” said Peter Fleming, president of Riverside’s borough council. “Some of them had started to make some repairs and did not proceed any further.”
The owner of 1112 Avenue F had agreed to repair the property in October, said Fleming, but Hart’s return visit in January revealed no progress had been made.
Similarly, when Hart visited the owner of 302 Gearhart Street in September, they said they would begin clearing the property for sale. Since then, nothing has been done with the property, reported Hart.
The third property, 196 D&H Avenue, had a certified letter from Hart posted on Jan. 6, and no contact has been made by the owner since then.
“Some have just chosen to ignore the inspection reports,” said Fleming.
The next step by the borough is to send each property owner a summary of their violation and a correction order allowing a reasonable time to make repairs and improvements. The timeframe for the repairs will be decided upon by Hart, said Fleming.
