MAHONING TWP. — One woman was hurt in a three-car chain-reaction accident Tuesday morning during rush-hour near the construction site at Routes 11 and 54, according to police.
Tiffany Thorp, 23, of Muncy, was taken by Danville ambulance to Geisinger Medical Center. A hospital spokeswoman had no information on her condition Tuesday afternoon.
One of the drivers, Ronald Carter, 43, of Mountain Top, went to the hospital on his own for treatment of neck pain, investigating Mahoning Township Patrolman Dan Patel said.
Patel said Thorp’s husband, Brock, 25, who was driving a black Chevrolet Cobalt, and their children, ages 11 months, and 2, were not injured. Ambulance personnel checked the children out at the scene to make sure they were uninjured, he said. He didn’t identify them because they are juveniles.
The officer said Thorp didn’t see the slowed vehicles in time before their car struck the back of a tan Chevrolet Cruze driven by Megan McCormick, 22, of Loganton. She wasn’t hurt.
The McCormick vehicle was pushed into Carter’s blue Subaru Legacy.
The accident, at 7:55 a.m., occurred across from Leighow Oil Co. on Route 54 east.
Patel said the vehicles had to be towed.
Traffic was detoured onto H. Eyer Road and onto the berm of Route 54.
Patel said the accident remains under investigation.
Fire companies from Mahoning Township and Danville, Danville ambulance and Danville fire police responded to the emergency.
