DANVILLE – A couple who has been performing together for 43 years were guests of the Montour County Senior Center.
Seniors from Catawissa also attended the show Friday by Carl and Opal Schlappi of Muncy.
“We play our own instruments and sing together,” said Carl. Opal plays electric bass guitar and he strums acoustic guitar.
The last time they performed in the Danville center was in 2007, he told the group.
Opal started appearing on stage when she was 10 and Carl first performed in public at age 12.
They present songs of gospel and other music in Pennsylvania and in New York state.
Carl was a high school principal in Williamsport, retiring in 1992. His wife retired in 1994 as an administrator of a federal prison in Allenwood.
They have eight children, 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
