DANVILLE — A Veterans Day Program, open to the public, will be held starting at 8 a.m. today in the Danville Middle School auditorium.
Anna Marie Cantore, reading specialist who served 24 years in the Army, organized the program along with other programs to honor veterans.
Guest speaker will be veteran Gregory Moore.
Principal Charles Smargaissi will give opening remarks. Dylan Smith will be narrator.
Posting of the colors will be by Ethan Benjamin, Elizabeth Henning, Jacob Raup and Samantha Houser.
The eighth-grade girls chorus will present the Pledge of Allegiance and National Anthem.
Izabella Hanna will give a World War I tribute. Nick Nizinski will present a World War II tribute. Abby Ferguson will give a Korean Conflict tribute; Emily Salerno-Oswald will give a tribute to the Vietnam War; and Ryan Cooper will focus on recent conflicts.
The seventh-grade chorus will sing. Benjamin will present “I Am the Flag.”
“There She Stands” will be by school music teachers Rebecca Pritchard, Jeff Smith, Todd Egger and Jen Hopple. Teacher Brian Leslie will play taps.
Veterans expected to attend include Joe Burke, Dick Donald, Ross Lehman, Robert Brouse, Keith Young, Dennis DiOrio, Carl Appleman, Christopher Dick, Paul Sugg, Brad Horne, Jared Curry and Eileen Chapman.
World War I and World War II items provided by seventh grade social studies teacher Andy Shively are on display.
