Car wash bay closed for bird family in Riverside

RIVERSIDE — A car wash bay has been closed after a bird’s nest was discovered in a hole in a wall.

Orange and white stripped barrels block traffic from each end of the bay at the M.M. Sunoco Food Mart in Riverside.

Manager Danny Patel has seen adult birds going in and out of the nest. He said there are two baby birds inside.

During the Patel interview, a bird, with food in its mouth, sat on a wire overhead and flew in and out of the bay. The bird was hesitant to enter the nest at the time.

Patel said he was going to repair the hole, in the cement block, but the birds beat him to it.

The bay will remain closed until the birds leave the nest.

Patel closed off the bay about four or five days ago.

He doesn’t know what kind of birds they are.
