Danville’s academic excellence recognized

DANVILLE — Members of Danville Area School District’s administrative team have received a special congratulation from Pennsylvania’s governor and secretary of education for academic achievement during the 2012-2013 school year.

Gov. Tom Corbett and acting secretary Carolyn Dumaresq sent letters of proclamation and banners to the Danville High School and Danville Middle School declaring that they earned a 90 percent or higher on the 2012-13 School Performance Profile.

Danville High School and Danville Middle School were two of 428 Pennsylvania schools that reached that goal.

The letters and banners were given to the principals and assistant principals of Danville Middle School and Danville High School during the May 27 school board meeting.

“This is no small achievement,” board president Allan Schappert told the administrators.

“I would also like to commend Liberty Valley and the (Danville) primary school,” said Cheryl Latorre, superintendent of the district. “Those two buildings are so much responsible for everything that comes to the middle school and the high school.”
