Steak&Lube-Harley drives

BUCKHORN – Sensing the connection between Millennials and a new line of affordable Harley-Davidson motorcycles geared to younger riders, Geisinger Blood Center and partner Quaker Steak & Lube will host a dozen summer blood drives that will reward one lucky raffle winner with the bike of their dreams.

“There’s nothing more iconic than the sound of a Harley Davidson motorcycle cruising down a Pennsylvania road,” said Mike Quint, Geisinger Blood Center director. “With the generosity of our partner Quaker Steak & Lube, we’re hoping that our donors feel the same and donate blood for that chance.”

According to Quint, the summers are toughest on the Pennsylvania blood supplier because many of its routine donors either travel or go on extended summer vacations. That means Geisinger Blood Center must sometimes get creative to attract a new base of donors.

The blood supplier and restaurant chain enjoy a partnership, so they’re inviting motorcycle enthusiasts to visit one of two Quaker Steak & Lube locations to donate blood during a dozen scheduled drives through August. Each donor who registers will be entered into a raffle to win the H-D Street 500 motorcycle valued at $6,400. The raffle will be held on Sept. 3, and the winner (age 18 and older) must be present.

Blood drives include collections from 3-8 p.m. June 25, July 9, July 23, Aug. 6 and Aug. 20 at Quaker Steak & Lube at 211 Columbia Mall Drive.
