Help needed to clean up the Danville downtown

DANVILLE — After a long winter, the Danville Business Alliance is organizing a downtown cleanup to spruce up Danville’s downtown.

Volunteers are needed.

The goal is to clean up and remove loose debris and weeds, plant flowers and mulch around trees along Mill Street and plant flowers in front of participating businesses.

The cleanup, through cooperation with the Danville High School Key Club, will start at 9 a.m. Saturday, according to Alliance Executive Director Jim Wilson.

Volunteers should meet in front of Villager Realty. They are asked to bring gardening tools they have, dustpans, brushes and brooms and to dress appropriately.

Among those assisting will be local Girl Scout troops.

Scott’s Floral will donate the flowers.

Businesses wanting to have flowers planted in a planter or an outside box should contact the alliance office or Kathy Grandizio at Danville Pharmacy.

The flowers will be planted at no cost to businesses.
