Studio Brick Blooms Naturally

DANVILLE – Karena Creasy is excited to own an historical piece of the town where she grew up.

The Danville native has purchased Studio Brick, at 118 Walnut St., which will soon become Bloom Naturally.

“This is one of the oldest buildings in town,” she said of the red brick structure and  a former church.

She plans to install a new entrance, off the parking lot. It will also include a ramp which will be accessible to the handicapped.

She recalled taking dance lessons at the dance studio as an adult for waltz, fox trot and swing.

Creasy had been hoping to expand her Bloomsburg business, by the same name, to  Danville.

Friend and Realtor Rebecca Judy spurred her to buy the building. “We had lunch one day. She said I needed to open a store in Danville and that she had the perfect spot. That was on a Thursday and the next day, I walked in here and said oh you got me. The building is so perfectly suited with the roots it has in the community – it’s a comfortable fit,” Creasy said.

“It’s still part of the downtown area and has parking,” she said.

The day after she looked at the building, she made an offer to buy it.

“It was her vision and knowledge that inspired me,” Creasy said of Judy.

Creasy plans to use the first floor for retail space and the downstairs for business-related needs.

She hopes to offer healthy cooking classes for the community on the first floor.

“I want to teach people to live healthier lives,” she said.

Creasy anticipates the business opening the middle of June. She expects four people to work there.

Bloom Naturally will be selling natural and organic foods, supplements, natural body care products, food in bulk, herbs in bulk, gift items and local, free range and organic eggs and meat. They will sell local organic produce when in season. With bulk, people can buy as much or as little as they want, she said.
