Danville council seeks public comment on downtown parking changes

DANVILLE — The Danville Borough Codes, Zoning and Health Committee has approved three changes related to developing second and third floors in downtown apartments.

A public hearing will be held at 5:30 p.m. June 10 in the Danville Borough Building at 239 Mill St., Danville. The borough council will consider the changes during its regular meeting at 6 p.m. following the hearing.

The public is invited to comment on the changes. Mail written comments to the Office of the Borough Manager, 239 Mill St., Danville, Pa., 17821. People with disabilities who wish to attend the meeting and require auxiliary aid, service or other accommodation to participate in the proceedings, please contact the Borough of Danville at 570-275-3091 to discuss how the borough may accommodate needs.

Committee Chairman Bill Rogers told council members Tuesday night the committee agrees with the recommendations proposed by the Danville Business Alliance.

The modifications would slightly loosen parking restrictions on Mill Street.

The proposed changes call for increasing the location radius for required off-site parking spaces from 250 to 500 feet, allowing for non-ownership of required off-site parking spaces provided annual proof of access is submitted to the borough and changing the minimum requirement for off-street parking spaces for single-bedroom dwelling units from two spaces to one.

A copy of the proposed ordinance is on file in the office of the borough manager, 239 Mill St.; in the County Law Library, 29 Mill St.; and in the offices of The Danville News and the Press Enterprise, until the day of the public hearing.
