Celebrity waiter coming

DANVILLE — DANVILLE – The Danville Child Development Center is asking people to save the date of April 12.

That’s when the annual Celebrity Waiter fundraiser will be held.

This year’s theme will be a Pacific luau with celebrity waiters needed.

The event will be held in Danville’s ballroom on Mill Street.

During the past seven years, more than 70 waiters have helped raise nearly $50,000 for the center.

No formal experience is needed to be a waiter. A great sense of humor, some quick thinking and a spirit of competition is all that is needed, according to Center Executive Director Diana Dixon.

That evening, waiters will provide entertainment and service for a table of guests for tips.

Tickets are $60 per person and include dinner and drinks.

Waiters receive one discounted ticket for a guest.

Several weeks before the event, the center will gather waiters and event sponsors together to share more specific information including tips and ideas to be a successful waiter.
