24-year-old Danville woman killed in Montour County crash

DANVILLE – The victim killed in a car-pickup truck crash early Friday morning was identified as a Danville woman.

Mahoning Township police released the name Friday afternoon of Nichole Cosgrove, 24, of 318 L. Mulberry St., after members of her family were notified.

A man in the other vehicle was reported in serious condition.

Township Cpl. Chad Thomas said they believe Cosgrove, who was traveling south, fell asleep.

Her 2012 black Mazda III struck a parked white pickup truck head-on.

Police said the man in the truck was running tests every 30 minutes of a natural gas main in a construction area where a line is being on Route 11 at Woodbine Lane.

Michael Trevorah, 37, of Binghamton, N.Y., was in the 2011 GMC Sierra truck of Linde Pipeline and Testing. Police said he reported back pain.

On Friday afternoon, Trevorah was listed in serious condition in Geisigner Medical Center, a hospital spokeswoman said.

The truck was parked facing north and between a barrier and the guardrail. Police said the car crossed three lanes of traffic and struck the truck.

Thomas said he hadn’t received information on a cause of death, but said it was accident-related. The accident occurred at 4:13 a.m.

Montour County Coroner Scott Lynn Jr. pronounced Cosgrove dead at the scene. Trevorah was taken by a Danville ambulance to Geisinger.

Thomas said they don’t know if Cosgrove was wearing a seat belt. Police believe she was heading home. Township Sgt. Chris Prescott said it has been some time since a fatal accident occurred in the township.

Hemlock Township police conducted the accident reconstruction. Danville police assisted Mahoning Township police. Also responding were fire companies from Danville and Mahoning Township.
