Trucker injured in Derry Twp.

WASHINGTONVILLE – A trucker sustained a shoulder injury after his tractor-trailer flipped on its side at 7:10 a.m. Monday on PPL Road in Derry Township.

Washingtonville Fire Company members removed the windshield so the driver could step out of the cab.

He was loaded into a Danville ambulance and taken to Geisinger Medical Center near Danville, Washingtonville Fire Chief Gary Roberts said.

Valley Township Fire Chief Mike Kull said he understood the truck was on the road shoulder at the time when the shoulder gave way underneath, resulting in the truck ending up on its side.

He said the accident occurred between the power plant and US Gypsum plant.

It looked like the shoulder had been recently rebuilt, Kull said.

He believes the truck was hauling Fiberglas.

A state police report wasn’t available.
