I-80 work to begin

LIMESTONEVILLE – Work will begin July 9 on a $295,654 micro-surfacing project on Interstate 80 eastbound in Northumberland County.

The work includes micro-surfacing 2.5 miles of both lanes from Limestoneville exit to approximately 0.5 miles into Montour County.

Prime contractor Suite Kote Inc., will begin work at Limestoneville overpass and work toward the Montour County line using single lane closures. Be aware the lane closures will cause traffic slowdowns.

Two lanes will be open to traffic at the end of each work day.

Motorists are advised to proceed with care through the work zone, be aware of changing traffic patterns and, most importantly, watch out for workers.

The contractor is on an aggressive schedule to limit the duration of the project and its impact on the traveling public. Weather permitting, the micro-surfacing is expected to be completed by July 11. The entire project is expected to be completed in late-July.

Motorists can check conditions on major roadways by visiting 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 700 traffic cameras. 511PA is also available through a smartphone application for iPhone and Android devices, by calling 5-1-1, or by following regional Twitter alerts accessible on the 511PA website.
