Valley awaits final agreement for sewer hookup to Danville

— VALLEY TWP. — The Valley Township Municipal Authority awaits a final agreement with the Danville Municipal Authority on the township connecting its municipal sewer system to Danville’s system.

Township Solicitor Robert Buehner Jr. told township supervisors Wednesday night the township municipal authority finalized a tax-exempt bond issue of up to $2.4 million at its meeting last month.

The loan included paying off a PennVEST loan of slightly more than $1 million for a previous sewer extension project which will result in a lower interest rate over a longer term, he said.

Engineers are finalizing drawings of the line to connect the township system to the Danville sewage treatment plant, he said.

There are a couple ways to do this with the location to be in the Beaver Place area and several places to cross on Route 11 to the plant, he said.

He is in the process of setting up a meeting with Danville school officials to discuss a site for a bore hole on property the district owns.

This will be somewhere in the area of the Montour County Housing Authority and Holy Family Convent which Geisinger owns, he said.

Part of the township, including homes and businesses, is connected to a municipal sewer system.
