New online Montour services

DANVILLE – The Montour County’s treasurer’s office is offering new online services to buy dog licenses, hunting and fishing licenses and launch permits.

The services, announced Friday, are effective immediately, according to Montour Country Treasurer Jesse A. Kline.

Organizations purchasing licenses for small games of chance and bingo may now use a credit or debit card as well, Kline said.

Usable cards are Visa, Mastercard and Discover.

A small fee will be assessed for using a credit or debit card. Residents will be made aware of that before their purchase if finalized, he said.

Dog licenses can be purchased at www.padoglicense.com. There is a link to the site on the Montour County website as well as to the treasurer’s website.

People can apply, pay and print their dog license online for a service fee of $2 per license. Kline’s office will mail the license tag to the owner.

When the license is purchased in this manner, it is legal at that time. The owner  will receive a notification by card or email at the end of the year to renew the license.

If a dog becomes lost, people can visit www.palostdogs.com to post the dog’s digital picture and information at no charge. To date, use of that website has saved the lives of more than 2,145 dogs, Kline said.

Kline said dog wardens are currently canvassing the county and may visit at any time without prior notice to verity a dog is licensed and has an up-to-date rabies vaccination.

“I urge you for your dog’s overall protection and your peace of mind to license your dog without delay,” he said.
