Riverside renews deal with power provider

RIVERSIDE — Borough council voted to renew their contract with electricity provider APPI, at a savings of $212 per year over their previous rate.

The borough signed a contract with APPI three years ago, at a fixed rate of $0.0897 for 36 months using Spark Energy. Their new contract is for a fixed rate of $0.0881 for 36 months using Guttman Energy. PPL also made an offer to the borough of $0.09585.

President John Novak, Vice President Peter Fleming and council members John Domanski and Caressa Compton voted for the contract. Members John LaMotte, Barb Kriner and Lori Vastine-Steele were absent.

Novak said a copy of the contract will be sent to borough solicitor Joseph Michetti for review.

The council also discussed limiting meetings this summer to once a month instead of two. Novak said there is usually less to talk about during the summer. He said a motion for that would be made at the council’s next meeting, on June 16.
