Ride to benefit center

BLOOMSBURG – The Women’s Center Inc. and Tri-County ABATE of Pennsylvania will hold the annual Ride for Shelter to benefit the center July 19.

The event will be held rain or shine and is open to all vehicles.

Ride registration will be from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Cracker Barrel in Catawissa. The cost is $10 per person. Every paid registration includes a full meal and access to the after-party at the Millville American Legion. Refreshments will be available at the rider’s expense.

Other activities will include 50/50 drawings, poker hands, door prizes and an opportunity to win the man cave grand prize pack, valued at more than $500, courtesy of Vreeland’s Harley-Davidson of Bloomsburg.

All proceeds benefit adult and child victims of domestic and sexual violence in Columbia and Montour counties.

In 2013, there were 158 deaths attributed to domestic violence in Pennsylvania.

Five of those victims were children younger than 12.

The Women’s Center has been providing free and confidential services to victims of domestic and sexual violence since 1974.

The center is also dedicated to increasing awareness about domestic and sexual violence issues.

For information, call the center at 570-784-6632 or visit and print a ride flyer.
