Danville Police: Informant bought painkillers

DANVILLE — A borough man allegedly sold some of his wife’s painkillers to a confidential informant on two occasions for $122.

Danville police charged Steven W. Stewart, 55, of 10 Beaver Place.

They also charged his wife, Thelma L. Stewart, 60, of the same address, with delivery of a controlled substance from April 5 at the Weis Markets lot at 600 Continental Blvd.

Stewart is free on $40,000 unsecured bail and his wife is free on $20,000 unsecured bail after being arraigned by Montour County District Judge Marvin Shrawder.

Police said Steven Stewart sold 18 Percocet tablets for $72 to an informant April 5.

After the buy, officers approached Stewart’s red Kia and ordered him to turn off the car and place his hands in the air. He threw something on the passenger seat, turned the car off and put his hands in the air, according to arresting officer Sgt. William Wilt III. Police removed Stewart from the vehicle and had him place his hands on the roof of the car.

Following a pat search, police found $786 in Stewart’s left front pants pocket. They also discovered $377 in his right front pants pockets. Police said the item thrown on the passenger seat was a pack of cigarettes.

Officers found numerous white tablets from the front hoodie pocket of the confidential informant.

Police recovered 19 tablets to be Acetaminophen-Oxycodone.

Stewart told police the Percocet belonged to his wife who had a prescription for the drug due to a knee replacement. He said his wife had no idea he was selling her medications.

Thelma Stewart told officers she knew her husband was selling her prescription medication to a confidential informant but said she didn’t know how much money he received for the drugs.

Police also seized the Stewart’s 2011 car as evidence. Steven Stewart asked to obtain personal items from the vehicle, including a walker, personal papers and CDs.

For that incident, he was charged with delivery of a controlled substance, two counts of criminal conspiracy for delivery of a controlled substance, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and criminal use of a cell phone.

He was also charged with selling 12 Oxycodone pills for $50 to a confidential informant April 2 at the same location.
