Garman named Danville High School assistant principal

DANVILLE — DANVILLE — A former Danville Primary School teacher has been named the new assistant principal of Danville High School.

Michelle Garman had been serving as the interim assistant principal over the summer, after the former assistant principal, Jennifer Gurski, left the position to lead the district’s e-Learning Cyber Academy.

Garman’s move “has worked out great for both parties,” said school board President Allan Schappert. “She’s a great teammate to have,” said high school Principal Lee Gump, adding that Garman performed very well in the role over the summer.

Garman was officially named the high school’s assistant principal at the Jan. 14 school board meeting. Her total compensation is $101,982 per year.

Garman joined the district in 1996, teaching at Mahoning-Cooper Elementary School and Liberty Valley Intermediate School before joining the Danville Primary School team when that building opened in 2011.

“It’s been great,” she said of her experience working at the high school. She especially enjoys getting reacquainted with students she used to teach when they were younger.
