Roof cut off car to rescue trapped driver in Sheetz crash

— DANVILLE – A two car crash outside of the Woodbine Lane Sheetz forced rescue personnel to cut the roof off a vehicle to rescue a trapped driver.

The trapped driver, Charles Muehlhof, of Danville, was sent to Geisinger Medical Center for treatment along with the driver of the other car, Wendy Engleman, 40, of Milton. Engleman was able to walk following the accident, but was transported to Geisinger by Danville Ambulance, as was Muehlhof.

No age was available for Muehlhof at the time of the accident.

The crash occurred at 6:52 p.m. Wednesday night. Witnesses told Patrolman Matt Gerst, of the Mahoning Township Police Department, that Muehlhof pulled his Honda Civic out of the parking lot of Sheetz onto Woodbine Lane in front of Engleman’s Toyota Camry, which was driving south on Woodbine. Gerst said that Muehlhof will be cited for the accident.

Both vehicles were towed from the scene.

Woodbine Lane was closed down following the accident. Local traffic along Woodbine was diverted through the Sheetz while emergency worked at the scene.

East End Fire Department also responded to the call.
