— DANVILLE – Fifty-eight Danville Primary School students were delivered free snow boots just hours ahead of Thursday’s snowstorm.
The boots were provided by Danville’s Good Samaritan Mission for any family that requested them. The mission budgets about $1000 a year for the boots, according to mission board member Cleo Weader.
Any family in the district could request boy’s or girl’s boots in their child’s size. The mission ordered the boots from wherever they could, such as JC Penny, Walmart and online distributors. Finding eight pairs of size 13 boots sometimes required going to multiple stores, Weader said.
Last year, the boots were given to children over the course of a few weeks, but Weader hand-delivered all of them Thursday to make sure the students had them before the storm.
“I wanted to make sure they kids had their boots for sled-riding,” she said.
