Texter busted for harassment

WASHINGTONVILLE — WASHINGTONVILLE — After a warning, a man hung up on an officer then texted and called the victim while she was on the line with police, according to charges.

Robert A. Bitler Jr. 49, whose last known address was Montgomery, has been charged with harassment by communications  after being warned by police not to contact the Derry Township woman.

State police at Milton charged Bitler for an incident Feb. 15 at 68 Blue Springs Terrace.

According to the charge, he kept sending text messages about the relationship Bitler formerly had with the mother of Shiloe Drumheller.

Bitler claimed the women owed him money. Police advised him how to handle the situation and to stop contacting Drumheller.

Arresting officer trooper Jason Caccia told Bitler by phone that if there was further contact he would be arrested for harassment by communications. Bitler disagreed with the officer and hung up.

Caccia called Drumheller to tell her he had contacted Bitler and while on the phone with her, Bitler sent her another text message at 4:13 p.m. Feb. 15 and called and left a voice mail message at 4:20 Feb. 15, according to the charge.
