DANVILLE — DANVILLE – The Goodwill Hose Company is adding special fundraisers, including a Valentine’s Day dinner, to raise money for the fire company.
The company recently sponsored its first Super Bowl party which went well, company president Deanna Force said.
Their first Valentine’s Day will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Feb. 14 in the fire company at 407 E. Center St.
The Italian-style dinner will include three choices – fettucine alfredo, chicken parmesan or all-you-can-eat spaghetti. The $8 meals include salad, garlic bread and dessert.
DJ Beaner will entertain starting at 8 p.m. There will also be drink specials and wine or wine coolers available.
Force expects 20 company volunteers to help with the dinner.
“We will have at least 10 on the kitchen crew and we will be waitressing. We will be taking orders and serving tables to make it a little fancier – like going to a restaurant,” she said of their upstairs dining room.
Reservations can be made by calling the fire company at 570-275-3511 after 6 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday. Reservations aren’t necessary – people can just show up.
Force stressed anyone can go to the fire company bar and restaurant since it is open to the public and isn’t a club. “You don’t have to be a member to come,” she said.
Money raised will help keep the company operating and for the purchase of equipment, said Force, who also serves as public relations officer and photographer for the Danville Fire Department. She is a former president of the Six-County Firemen’s Association.
With volunteer fire companies, she said many of the hours they devote to the company involve fundraising. “Fundraising and training hours are pretty high,” she said.
“Stop in and support the fire company and firefighters who help to keep you safe whenever the need arises,” she said.
The fire company plans its first NASCAR party of the year Feb. 23 with doors opening at 11 a.m. and happy hour from 1 to 3 p.m. Food will be available to purchase.
Monthly hoagie sales are held the first Thursday of the month with pickup the second Wednesday of the Month. The cost is $3.75 for regular or ham and cheese. Orders can be placed by calling the company.
The company will hold a Mardi Gras Party in March and its first chicken barbecue April 19 which is the day before Easter. Barbecued chicken will be served after the company-sponsored annual Easter egg hunt.
