Local tourism celebration

DANVILLE — DANVILLE – In celebration of National Tourism Week May 3 – 11 and the theme "Travel Effect," the Columbia-Montour Visitors Bureau (CMVB) hopes to increase public awareness and community support for the tourism industry throughout the two-county region of Columbia and Montour Counties.

On May 9 between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., members of the community are invited to stop by either CMVB Welcome Center to discover all the attractions and events that are hidden in our own backyard, pick up a new brochure and grab lunch. Welcome Centers are located in Bloomsburg at 121 Papermill Road and in Danville at 316 Mill St.  Both locations will have light refreshments including free hot dogs.

With help from Knoebels Amusement Resort, both locations will also be giving away $1,000 in Knoebels ride tickets, or $10 per family, to the first 50 families at each location.

National Tourism Week is sponsored by the U.S. Travel Association and promoted through Convention and Visitors Bureaus throughout the United States.  For more information about “Travel Effect” National Tourism Week, visit the U.S. Travel Association’s web site at
