Vomit towel suspect misses Montour County District Court date

DANVILLE — A Danville area man charged with throwing a towel covered with vomit into a paramedic’s face failed to show up for his preliminary hearing Monday.

Montour County District Judge Marvin Shrawder issued a bench warrant for the arrest of Mark D. Muffly, 51, of 1010 Bald Top Road. Shrawder also held Muffly’s case for court.

County District Attorney Rebecca Warren represented the commonwealth.

Two representatives of the Danville Ambulance Service appeared for the hearing.

Mahoning Township police said Muffly was in an ambulance at Geisinger Medical Center on April 27 after the ambulance responded to a call for an intoxicated person with a head injury.

The paramedic told township police she noticed Muffly start to vomit as he lay on a stretcher in the back of the ambulance. She gave him a towel so he could clean off the vomit. As the ambulance parked outside Geisinger’s emergency room, Muffly intentionally threw the towel, covered in vomit, in her face, according to the charges.

Sgt. Chris Prescott charged Muffly with hazardous physically offensive disorderly conduct, public drunkenness and harassment.
