Danville Primary School students show off creations during author's tea

DANVILLE — Kindergarten students have been working all school year on writing, illustrating and editing books on subjects ranging from hippopotamuses to gymnastics.

They read their published books to family members Friday during an authors’ tea in the Danville Primary School.

Twenty-one students in June Heeter’s class completed the books which they got to take home. Heeter handled the desktop publishing for the works.

Parker Mutchler, 6, read his work titled “All About Hippos.” He said he likes hippos “because they’re big.”

Six-year-old Alexandra Romanot wrote about cheerleading because she wants to be a cheerleader.

Student readers sat in a special chair graced with yellow balloons.

Olivia Coffta, 6, read her book “All About Gymnastics.” She participates in gymnastics.

Six-year-old Gavin Dissinger chose farm animals as his subject because he lives on a farm.

School board member Dave Weader was among school district guests at the reading. A reception followed.
