Man convicted of lewdness

DANVILLE – A borough man was convicted of unlawful contact of a minor, corruption of minors and open lewdness following a trial Monday before Judge Gary Norton.

Norton ordered an assessment of Megan’s Law since the unlawful contact charge is a felony of the third degree of Timothy Lewis, 58, of 233 Vine St. The other two charges are misdemeanors. Lewis was returned to the county jail.

A girl, now 9, testified she saw Lewis pick up a Barbie doll, pull up its skirt and point to its private area. She said he was looking at her at the time of the incident on Oct. 24, 2012.

Lewis testified it was a misunderstanding and he didn’t think anyone was around at the time he did that to the doll while picking up items from aisles in the Danville Salvation Army Store where he volunteered.
